Haichen Project Case — Application of PLC1500 in the Project

Our engineers have their own insights on how to better apply Siemens products in projects. Below is an application example of the Siemens PLC S7-1500 product.

The production line for automotive sealing strips needs to simultaneously extrude four rubber strips of different sizes and shapes. Each rubber strip is extruded by an extruder after the material pellets are softened through a high-temperature pipeline. The four strips are bonded into a sealing strip through a combined mold. There are certain precision requirements for the temperature and extrusion speed of each extruder.

The system's main unit uses the 1500 series PLC, featuring fast response time, an integrated CPU display panel, and corresponding debugging and diagnostic mechanisms. The main unit inputs analog signals to four frequency converters, which then control the extrusion of the four extruders. Four temperature control modules are mounted to achieve PID control of the temperature. Feedback from various field points is realized through the ET200SP remote I/O modules.

When the material is softened through the high-temperature pipeline, the temperature of the pipeline needs to remain constant. If the temperature fluctuates, the plasticity of the material will be greatly reduced. The temperature of the high-temperature pipeline is generally around 150°C. If the PID is not properly tuned, heat dissipation at 150°C under room temperature will be very fast. Continuous heating may also cause the temperature to become too high, leading to combustion of the material inside the pipeline, resulting in the entire material pipeline being scrapped. This system uses an expert intelligent algorithm for temperature control, characterized by fast response, minimal overshoot, and high stability, maintaining the maximum temperature error within ±2°C, which is significantly lower than the manufacturer's ±5°C error range.
