Siemens will sign the first joint charter dedicated to enhancing cybersecurity with eight industry partners at today's Munich Security Conference. The "Charter of Trust" initiated by Siemens calls for the establishment of rules and standards in cybersecurity to build trust and further deepen digital development. Besides Siemens and the Munich Security Conference (MSC), MSC ) Airbus, Airbus ), Allianz Group, Allianz ), Daimler Group, Daimler Group ), IBM , NXP Semiconductors, NXP ), SGS Group and Deutsche Telekom Deutsche Telekom ) have also signed the charter. This initiative has also been welcomed by the Canadian Foreign Minister, G7 representing Chrystia Freeland and witnessed by the EU Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, Elżbieta Bieńkowska .

" Having confidence in the security of data and network systems is a key factor in digital transformation. Joe Kaeser, President and CEO of Siemens AG, Joe Kaeser said, " therefore, we must make the digital world safer and more trustworthy. Now is the time for us to take action -- not relying on the strength of one company, but joining forces with strong partners who are leaders in different markets. We look forward to more partners joining to further strengthen this initiative.

The charter proposes ten areas where governments and enterprises must actively take action in cybersecurity. It calls for the highest-level personnel in government and enterprises to take responsibility for cybersecurity, assigning dedicated departments in government and appointing Chief Information Security Officers within companies. It also requires companies to establish mandatory, independent third-party certification for critical infrastructure and solutions —especially in potentially hazardous situations such as autonomous driving or future robots that will interact directly with humans during production. In the future, security and data protection functions will be preset as part of the technology, and cybersecurity regulations will be incorporated into free trade agreements. The charter signatories also call for greater efforts through training, continuing education, and international initiatives to promote understanding of cybersecurity.

" Secure digital networks are key infrastructure supporting global connectivity. The Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland said, " Canada welcomes the efforts of these important industry players to create a safer cyberspace. Cybersecurity is undoubtedly a focus for Canada as the G7 rotating chair this year. G7 G7 The Munich Security Conference also regards this issue as a top priority. " When it comes to rules for cyber transactions, governments must play a leading role. Wolfgang Ischinger, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, Wolfgang Ischinger said, " said, however, these companies at the forefront of envisioning and designing the future cyberspace must set and enforce standards. This is why this charter is so important. We hope to advance this issue together with our partners and contribute to defining its content.

The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) ENISA's Threat Landscape Report points out that global cyberattack losses in 2016 the year totaled over 5600 billion euros. By 2020 the year, this number is expected to reach 204 billion.
